Kidney is a very sensitive and also a very necessary organ within the human body as it servers the purpose to bring about the elimination of the toxins from the body. It works along with the other excretory systems in the body to render the body free from the toxins produced in the body or if they have entered into the body by any other source. Although in every human being there are found to be a pair of kidneys but yet it is very necessary that both these are functional as well as healthy and free from any disease or infection.

Therefore yoga has provided us a number of asanas that are very helpful in keeping your kidneys free from diseases, and preventing any type of disease. These asanas can be summarized as follows:

  • Surya Namaskara or the Sun Salutations:
    • This is a very beneficial yogic practice for obesity management, every day 24 sun salutations with a speed of 4 rounds in 1 minute gives great benefits of Yoga Asanas and exercise as well.
    • Sun salutation is a sequence of 7 asanas practiced in order which tones almost all of the muscles and also internal organs are stretched increasing blood & oxygen supply to these parts.
    • Regular practice of sun salutation with breathing gives good exercise to the lungs. Mantras have relaxing effect on mind.
  • Bandhas:
    • These can be as follows Uddiyana Bandha and Mula Bandha.
    • These Bandhas bring about an increase in the availability for the fresh blood to the kidneys and increases their activity.

  • Sukhasana or the Easy Pose:
    • This is one of the classic Meditative Poses and is usually performed after doing the Corpse Pose.
    • The Easy Pose helps in straightening the spine, slowing down metabolism, promoting inner tranquility, and keeping your mind still.
    • It also brings about the relaxation of the internal abdominal organs as helps to increase the blood supply to these gastric organs.
  • Makrasana or the Crocodile pose:
    • Lie straight on the abdomen with face touching the ground.
    • Keep both feet close to each other with the soles of the feet facing upwards. Extend both hands straight above the head with arms touching the ears.
    • Forehead and nose should touch the ground.
    • Let the palm and fingers of one hand touch the floor and put the palm and fingers of the other hand over it.
    • Close your eyes and breathe normally while concentrating.
    • Relaxes the internal organs in the gastric region.
